This one comes up a lot and truthfully it all boils down to the Resistance of letting go. Sleep paralysis is merely the stepping stone where you can take off into astral projection. For some reason many people get stuck in the hypnagogic state because they unconsciously fear letting go. This causes the resistance to build which leads to anxiety, fear, sometimes even hallucinations such as ‘negative entities’ or ‘demons’. It all boils down to being able to let go by releasing fear, easier said than done.
Many people who have trouble with astral projection instead work on lucid dreaming which helps build up momentum to be able to handle astral projection. It is really about fear though, that is it in a nut shell.
Astral projection is essentially a mini ego death, where you separate from your body. Funny enough we do this every time we sleep we’re just not conscious of it usually.
Robert Monroe’s research on astral projection has always been my personal favorite.
I’m personally not a huge fan of astral projection, i’ve had my fair share of experiences, it can be fun and is good for soul work but it’s not like it’s necessary. I feel like people make it out to be the be-all end-all of spiritual experience and it’s not remotely like that. Dissociation is good to explore but it’s through connection where we do the most grounded soul work. I mean technically because all is connected you can even work in astral right here. That’s just my personal opinion, so be gentle with yourself if you don’t master it right away, that’s okay, it can truly take time…My first experience was accidental which wasn’t very pleasant and it took many years to fully understand it and consciously do it. I went through many experiences of Egodeath and mind exploration before i was able to fully master astral projection.

I guess it might be a stepping stone but it is definitely scary as hell!! For me I think it might be but at the same time I feel like it’s also a alien abduction . I feel like there is more to sleep paralysis, everytime I have it my face goes completely numb I wish I had more answers!
