What is your ‘theory’ (for lack of a better word) on people who are extremely vain/self-centered/narcissistic? Do they truly love themselves, or is it something else? Not to say all who love themselves are narcissistic, I am asking if narcissistic type people truly love themselves. Or just vain/self-centered people in general.
Sometimes I worry that if I practice self love and go all the way with that, I may become too narcissistic.
Thank you. c:
Well i guess it would be how you define love. to me love is unconditional, self-less, warm, about how you see yourself, Accepting. Self-love is about accepting yourself, the good the bad and ugly, acceping all faults of yourself and still loving every single bit of your soul by being yourself.
Narcissism i feel is more like false empathy, empty over indulgent prideful love of yourself. I feel Narcissism comes more from an egocentric place rather than the heart. It’s an over-active solar plexus. An over-active solar plexus creates
aggressive, dominating, controlling, blaming, arrogance, manipulative, power hungry, stubbornness, hyperactivity, excessively ambitious and competitive types of personality. An excessive Solar Plexus closes and blocks the Heart chakra. It’s the epitome of the Narcissus myth, Narcissus fell in love with the beauty of his reflection by staring into the pond so long that he died from seeing only the beauty in himself rather than seeing it within others.
Self-love is about compassion, it’s about pure agape love, loving who you are with all of your imperfections, asking nothing of yourself except to love who you are truly deeply soulfully.
Self- love is about our birth right, it’s who we are, we are made of love. Two people created you from a place of pure true love and we are all made from love because love is how we are connected to the Earth and to people through the connection of the unified mind.
There is no reason to be ashamed or afraid to love yourself, it’s about valuing yourself as a person for who you are, your unique ablitites and characteristics but also once we learn to love ourselves we attract that love into our life. We attract unconditional love into our love, the more we learn to love ourselves. That is truly what life is about loving ourselves and loving other people through compassion and grace.
This is a good question though, i actually never even thought of it that way before, so thanks for the mind churning. 🙂
I hope this helps you!
