The astrology, the collective heaviness, the nonstop triggering events…it’s leaving people completely depleted. And more than anything else I see in the spiritual and personal development space, there is one problem that keeps showing up over and over again with clients, friends, and honestly, just people in general.

Disconnection.

This is one of the biggest, most overlooked issues in the spiritual industry and today we are diving headfirst into exactly what it looks like, why it happens, and how you can start to heal it.


What Is Disconnection (And Why Is It Actually a Spiritual Problem, leaving you feeling disconnected from yourself)?

Disconnection isn’t just feeling “off.” At its root, disconnection is the gap between your spiritual self and your physical self. It’s what happens when you fall down the rabbit hole of overthinking, anxiety, fear, doubt, and overwhelm; those are all signs that you’ve become disconnected from your soul, from your authentic self, from who you truly are beyond your conditioning.

But here’s the piece most people miss: disconnection isn’t just a mindset issue. It’s a nervous system issue.

Disconnection is the disregulation of your nervous system — what I call the mind-body disconnect.

The mind and body are always meant to be working in tandem. When your mind believes something, your body holds the energetic charge of that belief. The body literally holds the score. And when those two fall out of sync? That’s when things start to unravel.


The Mind-Body Disconnect: Why “Just Think Positive” Isn’t Working

One of the biggest problems I see in spiritual circles is what I call top-down spirituality, working only with the mind and completely dismissing the body. We’ve all been guilty of this, am I right?

Here’s a really clear example: imagine someone who is deeply committed to creating physical change in their life. They’re showing up, taking the actions, doing the work. But inside, their mind is running on a loop of “I hate myself. I don’t think anyone loves me. I’m not enough.” Everything keeps reverting because the mind was never actually on board. The body remembered a different story.

The reverse is also true. In manifestation and healing work, we’ll focus entirely on the mind: affirmations, visualizations, and mindset work, while completely ignoring what the body is holding. And that creates just as much of a disconnect.

Both versions leave you stuck. Both versions keep you in survival mode.


What Disconnection Actually Feels Like In Your Body

Here’s a quick exercise — try this right now.

Think about a time when you were deeply in your head. Overthinking, spiraling, weighing every pro and con of a decision. What happened in your body? Chances are, it froze. You felt overwhelmed, anxious, maybe even paralyzed.

Now flip it. Think about a time when you were flowing. Inspired. Taking aligned action without all the internal noise. What did your body feel like then? Probably regulated, open, maybe even empowered, like things were just clicking.

That contrast? That’s the difference between disconnection and reconnection. And here’s the key: you can physically feel it.

When you’re in disconnection, your energy is contracting, pulling inward, going into reserve mode, locking down into fear. When you’re connected, your energy is expanding. Your parasympathetic nervous system is online, you feel safe, present, and ready to move.

The next time you catch yourself spiraling, pause and ask: Where am I feeling this in my body? Your solar plexus? Your chest? Your throat? That sensation will tell you more about what needs to heal than any amount of overthinking ever will.


7 Signs You’re More Disconnected Than You Realize

These signs can be sneaky… a lot of them show up as totally “normal” daily behavior. But once you know what you’re looking for, you’ll start to see them everywhere.

1. You wake up exhausted or anxious for no reason. You got a full night of sleep. You should feel rested. But you wake up already depleted or filled with dread. That’s your nervous system signaling disconnection.

2. You can’t stay consistent with spiritual practices. You start something, it feels good for a few days, then you start making excuses and eventually abandon it altogether. This is often a sign that the practice isn’t aligned with your specific intuitive type. (More on that below — there’s a quiz for this!)

3. Your mind won’t stop looping. Ruminating. Mentally spiraling. Running the same situation through your head over and over. Trying to prove yourself right or prove your fears wrong. This cognitive loop is a classic sign of disconnection.

4. You’re trying to raise your vibration but feel shame around “negative” emotions. This is the toxic positivity trap. When you’re in chronic survival mode, negative emotions feel heavy and shameful, like you’re doing spirituality wrong. A connected, regulated nervous system can feel anger or grief and move through it without attaching meaning or shame to it.

5. You know you’re intuitive, but you can’t stop second-guessing yourself. You get the hit. You know. And then immediately, the doubt creeps in. You override the first response. You spiral. And over time, that second-guessing erodes into self-distrust, limited beliefs, and excuses. This one is a slippery slope.

6. You feel like you’re watching your life from the outside. You’re going through the motions, but you’re not actually in it. This dissociative, observer feeling – sometimes called depersonalization is one of the more advanced signs of deep disconnection, and it’s extremely common during spiritual awakenings.

7. You’re constantly looking for an escape. Fixating on relationships. Reaching for alcohol, weed, or substances to numb out instead of feeling your emotions. Getting addicted to other people’s energy for validation. Any time you’re prioritizing escape over giving yourself what you actually need, that’s disconnection speaking.


The Path Back to Yourself Starts With Your Body

Here’s the truth that most of the spiritual industry is still sleeping on: you cannot think your way back into connection. You have to feel your way back.

Embodiment practices are blowing up right now for a reason. We are a deeply dysregulated society, and we are finally starting to recognize it. The path forward isn’t more mindset work layered on top of an unregulated nervous system. It’s learning how to bring your mind and your body back online together.

When you can start to feel the difference between contraction and expansion in real time, that awareness becomes your compass. That’s when things start to shift. That’s when momentum returns. That’s when you stop feeling stuck and start feeling empowered from the inside out.
