Do you have blocked intuition? Its more common than you think, and the good news is we can easily fix it. Let’s get started.
Okay real talk. You know that moment where you almost made a decision, you had the gut feeling, the clear knowing, and then your brain just… swooped in and ruined everything?
Yeah. That was not a coincidence. That was a moment of blocked intuition, and there is a very good chance you have been living with it so long that it could just feel normal now.
Here is the thing about intuition blocks: they are not always dramatic. They do not always look like a full spiritual crisis. Sometimes they look like asking a Facebook group what outfit to wear to a party because you literally cannot decide for yourself. (No judgment. I have absolutely been there. We have all been there.)
So today, we are breaking down the three intuition blocks that are probably running quietly in the background of your life, why they happen, and how to actually start clearing them.
First, Your Brain Has Two Modes, and Most of Us Are Stuck in the Wrong One causing blocked intuition
Before we get into the blocks, here is the visual I want you to hold onto.
You have two versions of your brain operating at all times. Think of them as your lower mind and your higher mind.
Your lower mind is your survival brain. It is ancient, loud, and very dramatic. Its entire job is to keep you alive, which was great when we were outrunning predators and not so great when we are just trying to make a decision about our next career move.
Your higher mind is the evolved part of you. It is your connection to higher self, quantum intelligence, and who you actually are beyond all the conditioning and fear. This is where your intuition lives.
The problem? Most of us spend the majority of our time parked in the lower mind without even realizing it. And when you are stuck down there, your intuition is basically trying to text you while you have no signal to connect.
So what cuts off the signal? These three blocks right here are what cause blocked intuition to occur.
Intuition Block 1: Chronic Overthinking (Your Brain Is Eating Itself)
Overthinking is the number one intuition block. And I say this with so much love because I am a recovering overthinker myself (I DID IT ✌️)
Here is the thing Mel Robbins talks about with her 5 Second Rule, and I think it perfectly captures what is happening with your intuition. You have approximately five seconds before your brain starts killing an idea. You get the hit, the nudge, the knowing, and then the overthinking machine switches on and starts listing all the reasons why that was probably wrong or crazy or too risky or not logical enough.
Your intuition operates from first response. That immediate, quiet, clear knowing before the mental chatter floods in. The moment you start overanalyzing, overcompensating, and overdoing. You have officially left the intuition station and boarded the Fear Express lane.
And if you want the chakra connection here (because of course, we are going there), chronic overthinking almost always points to an imbalanced root chakra. You are ungrounded, running on overdrive, and your system cannot settle enough to receive clear intuitive information.
If this is you, the fix is not to think harder. It is to think less and feel more. Get back in your body. That is where your intuition actually lives.
Intuition Block 2: Fear of Being Wrong (And the GPS That Keeps Rerouting)
This one might sting a little, but stay with me.
If you have a deep fear of being wrong, your intuition will feel like a GPS that never finds a signal. You keep rerouting. You keep second-guessing. You keep looking outside yourself for the answer that is literally already inside you.
This block almost always has roots. Maybe you grew up in an environment where your choices were constantly questioned or made for you. Maybe someone along the way taught you not to trust yourself. I grew up with a mother who often decided things for me, so I know firsthand how much that can seep into your adult life and quietly sabotage your self-trust muscle.
And the sneaky way it shows up? It is not always a huge life decision. Sometimes it is asking ten people in a Facebook group whether you should buy one dress or another. Sometimes it is changing your order three times at a restaurant and you can’t decide if you want the omelette, eggs benedict or Hollandaise crepes. Sometimes it is refreshing a text thread, waiting for external validation before you make a move.
All of that is fear of being wrong dressed up in everyday clothes.
The practice here is learning to find the thought before the thought. What was your very first instinct before you started polling the audience? Nine times out of ten, that was your intuition. And you voted it out before it even had a chance. You really did want the omelette today, you thought about it as soon as you saw the menu but instead you started debating all the different overwhelming choices and you chose eggs Benedict! (but whyyy you said omelette)
This is what it is like to accidentally fall into blocked Intuition without even realizing it.
Rebuilding self-trust is the work. And it is absolutely one of the most powerful things you can do for your intuition and for lessening your overthinking mind.
Intuition Block 3: Feeling Disconnected From Your Body (If You Can’t Feel It, You Can’t Hear It)
This one ties everything together, and it is probably the most overlooked block of the three.
Your intuition is not just a mind thing. It lives in your body. And if you are chronically disconnected from your body, stuck in past regrets or future anxiety, running on a dysregulated nervous system, your intuition cannot reach you. The line is just down.
Think about why intuition tends to flow so naturally during meditation. It is not magic (okay, it is a little magic). It is because you are present. You have brought your mind back into your body. The mind-body connection is online, and the intuitive signal can actually come through.
A lot of us walk around in a state of full dissociation from the neck down and wonder why we can’t trust our gut. You cannot hear your gut if you have emotionally checked out of your body entirely.
The path back is not complicated but it does require intention. Mindful movement, somatic practices, grounding work, anything that helps your body feel safe and supported. When your nervous system regulates, your intuition gets louder. It is not a coincidence. It is biology meeting spirituality and they are very much working together here.
A lot of people dismiss the neurology that is happening behind the scenes of our Intuition – If we are disconnected from the body, we are missing the body sensations, body language, safety cues, and even emotional response that is happening as the parasympathetic nervous system turns on.
The Honest Summary
Here is what all three of these blocks have in common: they pull you out of the present moment and out of your body.
Overthinking drags you into your head. Fear of being wrong sends you chasing external validation. Disconnection from the body cuts the signal entirely.
Your intuition is not broken. It has just been competing with a lot of noise. And the good news is that noise can absolutely be turned down. It just takes the right tools and a willingness to start noticing the pattern.
So which one hit home for you? Be honest. Mine was absolutely the fear of being wrong, and I spent years outsourcing decisions I already knew the answer to. Sound familiar? It wasn’t until I started training my ability to develop my own self-trust muscle that this began to shift and change.
