We have now completed the first spiral of Cycles of Healing (32 articles), laying the groundwork for linking the new moon with the Great Year Ages and all that involves. This second spiral will look at the new and full moon charts. If you are new to Western Sidereal Astrology, please read this articleI am using charts drawn up for Washington, D.C. and use sidereal whole sign houses. If you want to know how to use Cycles of Healing with each new moon for deep healing, read this article.

The forecast, as always, will affect individuals with natal planets or points in aspect to the planets and points covered below. To determine if these aspects will affect you personally, check your sidereal natal chart (the common tropical chart degrees will be way off and therefore useless – not apples to apples). To calculate your sidereal degrees, subtract 24° from your tropical degrees; this will be close, not exact, but good enough for our purposes. Sidereal astrology is where the planets actually are if you take the time to look up at the night sky.

New Moon June 4, 2016 exact at 11 pm EDT

There is a Grand Trine between Mercury in Aries, Jupiter in Leo, and Pluto in Sagittarius. Trines usually represent harmony and the line of least resistance between the planetary bodies involved in the aspect. Between these planets this month there is the potential for powerful, creative self-expression if this aspects in our natal charts meaningfully. Because Jupiter is in square aspect to both Saturn and the Moon/Sun/Venus conjunction, there will be the motivation to use this energy. Otherwise the trine could come and go and we may never do anything with it – it is such easy-feeling energy.

So, that brings us to the Grand Cross with Jupiter in Leo, Saturn/Yokoono in Scorpio, Neptune in Aquarius, and Moon/Sun/Venus in Taurus. This can produce a great deal of tension and stress (in the world generally or in our personal charts) which then elicits choices. It is prudent, specially with Pluto involved, not to resist the flow of circumstances. By this I mean  making the best choice we can rather than putting off making any choice because of fear, and indecision, and consequently living by default. Default mode is never a good plan.

We get the flavor of these two BIG aspects by studying the information of each planetary body involved in them.

The new moon is 20° 48’ Taurus in the 6th house. The new moon is always exactly conjunct the sun, but this month it is also conjunct Venus at 20° 19’. This energy will give us the motivation and impetus to look at the fine details of our health, daily routines, and see if they equate with our personal value systems. Are we practicing what we teach? Are we implementing what we tell others is healthy? Are we taking our own advice, are we walking our talk? Not to do so invites dangerous schisms within and our psyche rebels eventually.

Mercury is 26° 53’ Aries in the 5th house and went direct May 22nd. Mentally we will feel the full steam ahead in this house of fun, creativity and enjoyment. Time to actually do the fun, creative, or adventurous things we thought about during the retrograde period, so we can continue to grow through experience. Trine Pluto in first house Sagittarius, and Jupiter in 9th house Leo, it’s all about fire. We take care not to burn ourselves or others. How can we manage this creative power appropriately? This is the task this month, and it will look differently for each of us.

Mars at 3° 04’ in Scorpio 12th house is still retrograde. The 12th house is all about subconscious motivations and our connection with the divine element in our lives. It will be vitally important to know what it is we desire, what we are indeed focusing on, what truly is important to us – not what we think should be important, but what is really there inside us. Are we spending time in worry, feeling angry or victimized, are we experiencing jealousy, or fear? These are desire driven. What is it we desire? The clearer we can be the easier it will be for us in the long run, instead of more of the same or living in default mode. We now have time to reflect on these themes until the end of June. Then, when Mars goes direct, what we desire will begin to show up in our lives. Mars retrograde cycle happens roughly every two years. We have the opportunity periodically to recalibrate and thereby become more conscious of authentic desires reflected in how our life unfolds.

Jupiter at 20° 13’ in 9th house Leo, and conjunct the north node and opposing Neptune at 17° 56’ in 3rd house Aquarius, we may be unclear about our destination, or our beliefs, or they may be shifting even as we plan. Our ability to communicate (3rd house) clearly may be challenged. We let the diffuse energy of Neptune open us to new concepts, ideas and possibilities. Don’t bear down and be angry or upset if things are not as clear as we’d like them. This is an opportunity to see life in a slightly different way than we’re used to, so we can adjust accordingly. Pay attention to dreams, intuitions, meditations, and reveries…. there could be some important information coming through.

Saturn is retrograde at 18° 54’ Scorpio in the 12th house327695 Yokoono is conjunct Saturn at 18° 07’; and widely quincunx 5236 Yoko in 7th house Gemini. Deep psychological, subconscious material could come up for us at this time. The challenge is to stay present and not allow feelings to become our reality: feelings of inferiority, not belonging, persecution, being resented, etc., and feelings around our primary relationships. Take time to be quiet, feel into the experience with the intension of letting it go rather than hanging on to them and chewing them over and over. These feelings need to be released and the only way is for them to come into consciousness, and therefore, experienced. It is temporary if we so choose. Feel it – done – go on with the next thing. When there is no self-judgment, insight is possible. For more about interpreting the Yoko/Yokoono archetype, click here.

Uranus is going to be hovering on the cusp between Pisces and Aries for some time. In this chart Uranus is 29° 15’ Pisces in the 4th house. There may be sudden disruptions on the home front in some form or fashion this month. Be ready just by detaching from outcomes and the need to have things a certain way. Going with the flow here is all we can do. When the lightning strikes, that’s it. If we begin to feel insecure, this can indicate the need to release the preconceived ideas about how life is progressing. We can also help to create a secure feeling by making our immediate surroundings just how we want them – an expression of our unique individuality.

Neptune is 17° 56’ Aquarius in the third house. There is the risk of nebulous communications causing trouble. Being clear about what we have to say before saying it will help keep things from becoming messy. This could be a good time for creative self-expression through writing, music, or painting. We do well to pay attention to dreams, intuitions, and meditation messages. Write them down; don’t rely on memory no matter how clear they may seem at the time. Neptune opposing Jupiter could enhance the experience of confusion or give rise to expanding into new realms as we open our minds to new ways of thinking about life, the world around us, and how we fit into the whole scheme of things. Neptune goes retrograde on the 13th, so we will be drawn more intensely inward. Seek balance and although we may want to stay in the mystical realms, it will be wise to keep one foot in the material realm and attend to our health,  and worldly responsibilities, etc.

Pluto is retrograde in the 1st house at 22° 53’ Sagittarius, and conjunct this chart’s Ascendant. What part of who we were is changing and transforming? Who are we becoming and what do we want that Self to look like internally and externally. We have an opportunity to transform congruently and authentically if we take the chance without fear. We may feel particularly tense right now and have issues of power and control showing up in our lives. The key here is to work for positive change within and without; release the need for power and control over people and situations. Pluto is here to transform, not stroke the ego. The more control we try to exercise, the more difficult our lives become until we have no choice but to let go.
