New Moon in Sagittarius exact 8:30 pm EST
January 9, 2016
We have now completed the first spiral of Cycles of Healing (32 articles), laying the groundwork for linking the new moon with the Great Year Ages and all that involves. This second spiral will look at the new and full moon charts. If you are new to Western Sidereal Astrology, please read this article. I am using charts drawn up for Washington, D.C. and use sidereal whole sign houses. If you want to know how to use Cycles of Healing with each new moon for deep healing, read this article.
Happy new year everyone! On January 1st Sirius, the beautiful blue-white star of Isis, was at her zenith at midnight. This is why January 1 is our new year (it does have meaning); it comes down through the Romans via the Greeks, via the Egyptians who held Sirius/Sopdet in such high esteem.
The new moon at 25° Sagittarius is conjunct Pluto at 21° in the 5th house. We have the chance this new moon to initiate a transformative adventure, inside or out, that will ultimately be enjoyable, and lead to a new perspective. Wherever the new moon is in your own chart will be more personal to you. Be still and pay attention. What calls, what does not? And when in doubt, leave it out – a wise woman told me years ago. Wait for clarity before making changes if possible. But when Pluto is involved, there is often no choice except how we react to what life brings. In that case remember: resistance is futile with Pluto. Step into the now and let it take you moment by moment.
Mercury stationed retrograde on January 5th at 7° Capricorn and will station direct at 20° Sagittarius on the 25th. It will come out of its shadow on February 14th. If communications get scattered, you feel frustrated or impatient, equipment gives you difficulties, the message is to slow down and go inward. Take time for self-care by grounding and centering daily, or more often if you need it. Take special care to do this before setting off in the car particularly. When you are centered in Self, you will naturally be directed to re-examine, re-visit, re-do, etc. something in your life. Pay attention and go with the flow.
The Square between Mars and Mercury cautions us to think things out before we jump into action. With Mercury retrograde, thought processes are likely to be sluggish or just elusive. Don’t be rash, be clear. And…..there is opportunity here for some weird gadget glitches….you have been warned by someone has been there. Sometimes things will be awkward no matter how grounded and present you are! The deal is to see the humor in it all.
Jupiter stationed retrograde on January 8th in the last degree of Leo. We get the opportunity to revisit how/if we have fun, how/if we are creative, and what sorts of enjoyable things we participate in. If you find it challenging to give this good stuff to yourself, you are getting a final chance to integrate some much needed enjoyment, lightness, fun and/or downtime in your life. It can’t all be nose to the grindstone, but do keep from overdoing anything. The middle road is best. If you are called to step into the limelight, check your facts, know your stuff, and go for it.
Make a jar full of slips of paper with enjoyable and fun activities to do written on them. The activities don’t have to be expensive, but you do have to do them alone. Enjoy your own company and learn to love yourself. Pick one a week and do it!
Jupiter is also conjunct the North Node. This bodes well for collective movement toward joy and expansive philosophies. Follow the trail of your life to your destiny. It is the destiny of us all. We are all in this together and we start to really know it now. Jupiter and the north node will be closely conjunct for the next 6 – 8 weeks. Jupiter stations direct May 9th.
As the North Node moves into Leo (check which house this is for you personally) we get a shift in outlook, direction, and modus operandi generally in our lives. We need to open to more playful, creative, fun energies in our lives and will have support for this over the next 18 months or more. The Jupiter conjunction gets this ball rolling.
Venus and Saturn are conjunct and trine Uranus with just a one degree orb in Scorpio at 19°, 18°, and 22° Pisces respectively. Our values, specially to do with our roots, may come under the stern gaze of Saturn and/or shift suddenly as we are asked to really know what it is we cherish, what is non-negotiable. There may be a feeling of isolation within the context of relationships, but this is just letting us know we need a little quality time with self. The more comfortable we feel being alone the less this will be an issue. At this time, if sudden changes come up around our deepest truths and home/foundations, let it go, let the change happen without impediment. It will all be for the best when the dust settles.
Saturn in Scorpio requires us to get very real about what is our deepest truth. If we continue on an inauthentic path or think we can get away with remaining on the surface of life, we will be in for a shock. The key here is transformation – take the opportunity to live by choice, not default.
Pluto, Sun and Moon all conjunct in Sagittarius and square Uranus in Pisces. Inner and outer philosophical transformation is going to happen now. It may come suddenly and strike like lightning. We may need that kick in the pants to really change if we have hung on to old habitual ways of living up till now. Don’t be afraid of change. It is always for the best when the planets indicate it (as opposed to doing something rash when the timing is off).
All in all it seems as if there is real potential for some much needed change collectively and personally if we ride the wave. It is all supported by the Jupiter/North Node conjunction and I don’t see this being a traumatic time, just transformational. Yay!
The New Moon in Sagittarius invites us all to step off into the unknown, like The Fool of the Waite-Smith tarot deck, when inspiration beckons. Its all about maintaining balance. For complete information about the Age of Sagittarius energies, click this link.
