Full Moon in Sag

We have now completed the first spiral of Cycles of Healing (32 articles), laying the groundwork for linking the new moon with the Great Year Ages and all that involves. This second spiral will look at the new and full moon charts. If you are new to Western Sidereal Astrology, please read this articleI am using charts drawn up for Washington, D.C. and use sidereal whole sign houses. If you want to know how to use Cycles of Healing with each new moon for deep healing, read this article.

The forecast, as always, will affect individuals with natal planets or points in aspect to the planets and points covered below. To determine if these aspects will affect you personally, check your sidereal natal chart (the common tropical chart degrees will be way off and therefore useless – not apples to apples). To calculate your sidereal degrees, subtract 24° from your tropical degrees; this will be close, not exact, but good enough for our purposes. Sidereal astrology is where the planets actually are if you take the time to look up at the night sky.

This year’s Summer Solstice coincides with the full moon in Sagittarius. We will be feeling lots of energy going into the new season. Check your sidereal natal charts to see where/if these alignments are taking place in your life.

The Full Moon is exact at 7:02 am EDT; the Solstice is exact at 6:34 pm EDT

We are looking at two different charts here on the same day, albeit 11 and-a-half hours apart. The full moon gives us clues for continuance with the New Moon’s energy signature of two weeks ago; the Solstice chart will give us indicators for the next three months.

June Full Moon in sidereal Sagittarius exact at 7:02 am
June Full Moon in sidereal Sagittarius exact at 7:02 am

This Full Moon is 05° 27’ Sagittarius in the 7th house. Adventurous fire in the house of relating, trines the Uranus/Eris/Ceres conjunction in the 10th house Pisces, squares Chiron at 1° 10th house Pisces, and opposes the Sun at 05° 27’ Gemini in the 1st house conjunct Venus at 09° 09’. A lot of aspects for our full moon!

We are being offered a new look at relating and our personal value system – notice how these two go together. Big opportunities are here to heal through this process. In the areas of nurturing/self-nurturing, we need to look to the unusual, adventurous, and step out of consensus reality. Those who choose otherwise will be in for a more challenging ride.

Be prepared for some upheaval, but without attachment and preconceived ideas, we won’t suffer through these changes. People from our past may show up in our lives. We have the grounded thoughtfulness to remain who we know ourselves to be rather than drop into past inauthentic roles to make others more comfortable. These events are here to give us reality checks. We always have choice – don’t live by default. Keywords: acceptance, release and authenticity at all costs.

Mercury is 17° 30’ in 12th house Taurus opposing Saturn in the 6th. We may be hearing messages from the subconscious/intuitive realms. Pay special attention to dreams and write them down to consult later. Saturn will put disciplined thoughtfulness into the mix, so don’t fight it. Saturn wants us to go slowly and really see what the deal is before communicating it. Listen within and don’t be so eager for socializing just now. We can learn a lot through wise application of the energies the planets are bestowing upon us during this two-week cycle. Or we can be distracted and miss the opportunity. It will come around again, only more insistent each time we neglect paying attention.

Retrograde Mars is 29° 36’ in 5th house Libra opposing the Uranus/Eris/Ceres conjunction. Libra brings balance to Mars, and trine Chiron, Mars can lead us in the correct direction by noticing what we desire,  assessing the wisdom in that and then making informed choices. This is quite an opportunity for self-correcting our trajectory and transforming our lives. It may caution: be careful what you ask for, you may get it!  Mars goes Direct June 29th. If we have done our Mars Retrograde reflection well, the way may be more open to accomplish our immediate goals or we may have clearer insight into what we truly desire and that gets us on the right path. Either way, expect an energy shift at the end of the month.

Jupiter at 21° 40’ 3rd house Leo squares Mercury, opposes Neptune, trines Pluto and squares Saturn! This can enhance our communication (take care to speak thoughtfully), expand our dreamy, creative adventures, transform our relationships, and give us discipline to navigate these waters with due care and attention. Still conjunct the North Node, Jupiter here gives us the thrust forward into our future – these aspects will all be a part of that forward movement. Big changes afoot to be sure. We stay grounded, don’t overdo anything and maintain our daily spiritual practice.

Retrograde Saturn is 17° 47’ in 6th house Scorpio moving away from asteroid Yokoono at 15° 40’. This is the area of routine, personal health, and day-to-day activities. It is also the area of teacher/student/initiation. If this aspect affects our natal chart, we may be about to set out on new experiences. This could entail being way out away from the crowd and consensus reality, and feeling unappreciated or even ridiculed unfairly (Yokoono). The best course is always to choose to be wholly and unashamedly ourselves no matter what. Square Jupiter, this could exacerbate the issue or give balance so that the matter is not as intense.

Uranus/Eris/Ceres conjunction 29° Pisces 10th house. I’ve mentioned this above, but it is an important long-term conjunction, so it bears further scrutiny. We will need to take an unorthodox approach to the career/public personae we are developing. And this needs to incorporate sophisticated self-compassion and nurturance. Eris (Goddess of Choices) will set the cat amongst the pigeons as it were and Uranus may create sudden upheaval that will set our heads spinning. With our self-nurturance (Ceres) safely in place and a healthy routine, we are less likely to be thrown into dissonance and can ride the waves of change without undue suffering. Our self-care may be up for changes. If so, we go with what draws us no matter how far out (Uranus) it may seem to others.

Since this aspect is on the cusp, the energy of the 11th house may figure in for some: friendships, group activities, our aspirations and humanitarian endeavors.

Retrograde Neptune at 17° 56’ in 9th house Aquarius squares Saturn. We won’t be able to see clearly where it is we are headed (and haven’t for some time), and will have to trust in our process, following our interests, intuitions and hunches for now. Our inner world will be more important to us now, and in fact, this inner world may become more easily apparent. This may feel difficult to us specially if we are used to being in control and/or interface with consensus reality to a large degree. We are not in control, and it is time we integrated this piece of information. This aspect can show us the benefits of detachment in our lives. It helps us to recognize the things that are not under our control, and by releasing them we invite peace and harmony into our lives. Our long-distance travels may be via the mind, dreams and reveries. Enjoy the ride. It’s beautiful in there. Neptune turns Direct November 20th.

Retrograde Pluto at 22° 33’ 7th house Sagittarius almost exactly opposes the chart’s Ascendant with only a 03 arc minute orb. At the last new moon Pluto was conjunct the Ascendant, so we are still dancing with self-transformation, perhaps changing outward appearances in some way. We go with what feels right to us and don’t second-guess ourselves. Relationships (7th house) will also be up for review and changes. The key to Pluto transits: resistance brings acute suffering.

Now for a look at the Summer Solstice Chart, exact at 6:34 pm EDT

A brief overview of the energies of the next three months:

Summer Solstice 2016, exact at 6:34 pm
Summer Solstice 2016, exact at 6:34 pm

Scorpio Ascendant at 10° 45’; widely conjunct Saturn and asteroid Yokoono. We need to take the time (Saturn) to explore who we seem to be (Asc) and integrate the slights, hurts and feelings of disenfranchisement we have suffered through. We are complex creatures and we have little idea who we really are. We can begin to explore these deeper truths.

Gemini Sun at 05° 55’ 8th House – we will be fueled by our deeper truths (8th House, supported by Scorpio Asc). As they come to light we will heal, and become more whole; then a positive feedback loop can develop. Keep digging, and discovering our deepest truths, and we will go far on our path of Self-Mastery.

With Retrograde Mars in the 12th house our desire will be to connect to our concept of the divine and be open to the deeper processes of what we currently term ‘mind’ (collectively we would be better served to begin to acknowledge the different aspects of this so called ‘mind’ and use more appropriate defining terminology).

2nd House Sagittarius Moon at 11° 31’. Our concept of security is up for review and we can let go of the struggle if we release outmoded ‘requirements’. Perhaps there is a different kind of security in going with the flow only when a direction becomes apparent to us. We cultivate a sense of the unknown adventure ahead and are ready for anything. This is up for broad personal interpretation and will reflect what each one of us has been releasing over the last years, thus influencing how we experience the Solstice energies.

Mercury is in the 7th house of relating at 18° 20’ Taurus. Speaking up and working on relating to others with clarity (Mercury squares Neptune, so take care to be clear first before communicating) can be achieved over the summer months. This will take care and caution, but a lot can be worked through if we feel we are ready and have grounded courage and compassion.

Uranus/Eris/Ceres conjunction in 5th house Pisces – we may be inspired to express ourselves in some unique, self-nurturing way through any of the creative arts. Sudden insights along these lines can come into play. As always, note down dreams, intuitive hits and reveries. Tempered with common sense, we act on what we discover, then create a new Self. Compassion is the keyword here.

In summary: the Solstice energies indicate that inward inquiry will be very beneficial and supported. We can share and express our insights and needs if we have clarity. Nebulousness will just muddy the waters. Stick with the process of the inward search.

Solstice Meditation: Sitting comfortably in quietude 15 minutes either side of the exact time of the Solstice is a wonderful way to attune and align to the changing energies of the season. Be, listen and feel inwardly. Sit outside if you can, but inside will works just as well I find. We’ll all connect this evening EDT.

Stargazing: Around midnight EDT Jupiter, near the end of the constellation Leo, is visible low in the west. It looks orange and is quite large; Mars in the south glitters red with smaller, but bright white Saturn to the left of Mars. Just below at a little toward Mars is Antares, the heart of the Scorpion. Find the Big Dipper in the northwest and follow the arc of the handle to bright Arcturus. Far below and a little to the left is Spica, the hand of Virgo. In the East you can see the Summer Triangle: Deneb in the constellation Cygnus, Vega in Lyra, and Altair in Aquilla. Its a beautiful Summer sky. You’ll be able to see better after the full moon starts to wane, of course.

If you view earlier, just shift the positions eastward a bit, and remember the stars rise four minutes earlier each evening. You can get a planeshere online or at your local planetarium, or the Skyview app is helpful (you must align the moon on the screen to the moon in the sky) in identifying the heavenly bodies too. Get out there and experience first hand knowledge of where the planets and stars are. They are the blessed gifts of Goddess to all who will receive their healing light, and they do speak to us.
